1.Siegfried’s line (Siegfriedlinie or Siegfriedstellung, also the Westend, Westfalse) represented the defensive line that Germany built during World War I. The line was constructed in the form of defensive fortifications and blocks that were supposed to stop the penetration of tanks and artillery. Although built during the First World War, Siegfried’s line was used more significantly in World War II. Hitler ordered an additional reinforcement of the line before the war began. The reinforced line provided protection to Germany that allowed the invasion of Poland and Czechoslovakia.slika 2 zigfrid
The Siegfried line stretched on 630 kilometers and consisted of 18,000 bunkers, hundreds of tunnels, and tens of thousands of anti-thunder traps.
The construction lasted from 1938 to 1940.Lining proved to be very successful because nearly the entire war was inevitable. But, due to Hitler’s unhappy moves, the line came to a halt before the end of the war and became very useless. In 1945, the Allies took advantage of the bad state of the line and launched an offensive in Germany. Yet, although largely neglected, the line has proven to be extremely difficult to win. The Allies needed several months and several thousand soldiers to occupy it.slika 3 zigfrid
