For children in the hospital, seeing oneself in a doll is integral for therapy, validation and comfort — but most dolls don’t have scars, limb differences, or medical equipment. So, one doll at a time, former social worker Amy Jandrisevits brought smiles to child patients. Partnering up with local hospitals and through her nonprofit, A Doll Like Me, Jandrisevits sews custom dolls to reflect and celebrate kids’ unique differences, because a “child needs to pick up a doll and see themselves.”
