What ingredients are included in cosmetic products? (the second part)

The safest preparations in the field of cosmetics are those where the number of chemical substances (natural and artificial) is as small as possible. When you want to make a complete replacement care product, it is enough to make a combined selection of proven effective preparations with some new product in the organic category. For example, you can replace your regular face cream with an oily blend or ointment, as these preparations do not usually contain preservatives. Choose products from proven brands that contain anti-aging substances, with herbal extracts and a minimal amount of preservatives.
Useful components for skin:
Hyaluronic acid: It is naturally present in the skin and participates in the process of tissue repair. Creams use herbal and animal derivatives of this acid, which, like magnets, bind moisture and increase skin volume.
Superoxide dismutase (SOD): A powerful oxidizing agent SOD restores cells and reduces damage that causes superoxide (free radical), which is the most common pattern of wrinkles.
If you have sensitive skin, be careful with:
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Olefin Sulfonate: These are foam-forming detergents in some shampoos, baths and shower gels. These substances can cause skin irritation.
Nickel, formaldehyde-based preservatives (imidazolidinyl urea, quaternium 15 and diazolidinyl urea), perfumes (chemical constituents of essential oils, citral and limalol): these substances are the most common causes of skin allergies.
Mineral oils (paraffinum liquidum): Although not harmful, mineral oils linger on the surface of the skin, close the pores and can cause acne. Vegetable oils are always a better choice because they are quickly absorbed into the surface layer of the skin making it smoother and fuller.
Retinoids (Vitamin A derivatives), AHA and glycolic acid: they make the skin smooth, although these substances can cause dandruff and redness. Follow the instructions for use of these preparations containing these ingredients and if you notice any irritation, stop using them.
Homemade cosmetics with only one ingredient:
A face mask can be made with only one ingredient most commonly found in the kitchen or in our home:
Honey-great for dry skin because it attracts and retains moisture. Take a cloth moistened with warm water. Moisturize your face to open the pores. Grease your face with honey and leave for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. By lightly tapping with a towel (dipped in cold water), wipe your face as cold water closes the pores.
Yolk-rich in Vitamin A which is a key ingredient in the fight against acne. Spread the yolks on your face and neck. Leave for 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
Egg whites- proteins have a tensile effect as they dry on the skin. Whisk the egg whites to make it foamy. Apply on face. Wait for it to dry. Rinse with warm water.
Grape-contains powerful antioxidants called polyphenols that slow down the aging process. Cut one berry and rub it all over your face. Then rinse.
Banana-nutritious fruit, contains large amounts of magnesium, zinc, iron, iodine, potassium, vitamins A, B, E, F. All of the above helps the skin. Crush one banana. Apply on face. After 30 minutes, rinse.
Yogurt-contains alpha-hydroxyl acids, including lactic acid, which are used to reduce wrinkles. It is full of B-complexes, especially B-5 or pantothenic acid, which is used to restore skin. Apply on face. After 20 minutes, rinse.
Apple cider vinegar – improves blood flow in small capillaries. It has an antiseptic effect (prevents the growth of bacteria, viruses and fungi). In a 1: 2 ratio, dilute the vinegar in water. After washing your face in the morning and in the evening, gently apply this preparation to your face with cotton wool.
Olive oil – a great source of squalene, a natural moisturizer used in many cosmetic products. Contains natural anti-oxidants, Vitamins A and E, and certain polyphenols. Apply some oil to your face and lips before going to bed. Rinse in the morning with water.
Avocado fruit full of vitamins A, C, E, iron, potassium, niacin (vitamin B3) and pantothenic acid. Crush one avocado. Apply on face. Hold for 10 minutes. Then rinse with water.
