In 2013, the IWMF Crisis Journalist Fund was established to support women journalists in times of distress or threat. Now more than ever, reporters around the world face real dangers as a result of reporting.
The Emergency Fund is maintained with the support of individual donors to address the growing need to provide direct assistance to women journalists who need it. Small allowances for psychological and medical care for incidents directly related to threats and crises caused by someone’s work as a journalist. Three months of temporary relocation assistance in case of crisis or threat. Legal assistance in combating threats of imprisonment or censorship. Non-financial assistance in the form of information on additional access to resources.
Anyone who has graduated as a journalist and has worked as a full-time journalist for six months may apply.
