Use of plants at home

Many plants are easy and fun to grow in pots or gardens. Medicinal herbs are very suitable for use at home. To use plant material, use a coarse strainer to remove coarse and woody parts that remain in the liquid by cooking the plant. For people who collect plants themselves, it is important to be sure which plants are medicinal — which plants are not medicinal. If you are not sure about the healing properties of a plant, never use it. Medicinal herbs should be used until the symptoms of some ailment cease. If the condition does not improve or worsens, stop using the herb immediately and seek professional help.

Oral use of herbs-many herbs can be purchased at health food stores or herbal pharmacies or markets. The plants are sold in the form of tablets, capsules or tinctures (alcoholic extract). Start preparation with the lowest dose according to the instructions on the package. The traditional use of herbs is oral (teas).

There are 2 types of teas.: Tea from the flowers or leaves of the plant. The easiest preparation is to pour boiling water over the plant (to extract useful ingredients from the plant). Hard, root or woody parts of the plant should be in boiling water for some time (to extract the active ingredients from these parts). Herbal teas are drunk hot or cold. Determining the necessary amount of tea depends on the age of the person and the health condition of the person. Adults can usually drink one cup of tea three times a day. Older people can drink half of this amount. Children under 16 need the advice of a professional.

Preparation of decoction – this herbal preparation is prepared to boil hard herbal material at a mild temperature. Put 30 grams of dried herbs in half a liter of water. Let the mixture boil for at least 15 minutes. Strain to remove hard parts. Some of the liquid evaporates during preparation. So add more water to fill the original quantities.
