Tea is a medicinal beverage and adjunctive therapy in the treatment of diabetes
It has been scientifically proven that tea has a positive effect on blood glucose levels and can be an adjunct therapy in the treatment of diabetes. Green, black and oolong tea contain polyphenols that stimulate insulin activity. Some studies prove that these teas can increase insulin activity up to 15 times. These types of tea block glucose absorption and reduce insulin resistance. They alleviate the beneficial effects of stress, help control blood pressure and strengthen mental abilities. However, teas are by no means a substitute for medication and dietary nutrition as recommended by a doctor.
Tea is made from the plant Camellia sinensus. Tea is divided into the following categories: white, oolong, black and green tea. Green tea is the most popular but other types have good healing properties. The taste of tea can be enriched with lemon, ginger, cinnamon and rose instead of sugar. These ingredients give a pleasant aroma and strengthen the healing properties of tea.
Lemon juice and ginger in 10 dcl of boiled water put 10 g of grated ginger. Let the tea simmer for up to 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and add 2 tablespoons of oolong tea. Leave for 5 minutes and strain. Add lemon juice to chilled tea.
Cinnamon and rose-in 6 dcl of boiled water put one cinnamon stick (1.5 cm long), one tablespoon of dried rose petals. Boil for 5 minutes. Then add one teaspoon of black tea and half a teaspoon of plum kernel powder from the island of Java. Bring to a simmer. Strain.
White tea is the cleanest and least processed tea. It has a low coefficient content. It has a mild taste and color. Contains antioxidants that have a beneficial effect on skin and tone. Chinese white tea is the most valued and sought after product in the world.
Black tea is completely fermented. Contains 20% caffeine. Some studies claim that drinking black tea lowers cholesterol levels. Black tea helps preserve the cardiovascular system.
Ooolong tea is partially fermented. It is associated with the sharpening of cognitive and mental abilities. Ooolong tea is a useful tea against obesity, cancer and osteoporosis. People drink this tea as part of allergy relief therapy.
Green tea contains powerful antioxidants that fight against harmful compounds in the body. It has a stimulating effect. It has a diuretic effect. It acts as an astringent. It helps the body get rid of excess fluid, while controlling bleeding. Promotes wound healing.
Herbal tea does not come from the tea plant Camellia sinensis. Herbal teas are infusions of dried leaves, seeds, roots, herbs, fruits, flowers and other botanical elements (which give flavor and beneficial effects to plants). Herbal teas are divided into 3 groups: Rooibos, Mate and herbal infusions. Only Mate tea contains caffeine while other groups do not contain caffeine but are rich in vitamin C.
Rooibos tea– is red tea or red bush. It originates from the South African red bush. This tea is a source of vitamins. It has a unique refreshing taste. It has a cleansing effect. It is a great choice for people sensitive to caffeine.
Mate tea-Yerba Mate originates from South America. There are many legends related to this tea. Most legends say that the Guarani tribe became the most powerful tribe in South America because they drank this tea. This tea improves physical activity. Contains antioxidants.
A maximum of 3 cups of tea a day is recommended
Experts advise consuming 2 to 3 cups of tea a day (2 dcl in one cup). A study from the Netherlands says that 3 cups of tea a day has a beneficial effect on people with diabetes, while in healthy people it can reduce the risk of this endocrine disease by 40%. Tea contains caffeine so it cannot be consumed instead of water. Tea can cause anxiety, nervousness, heartburn, high blood pressure, other gastrointestinal disorders if drunk in large quantities.
