Macadamia oil is obtained from the nutritious fruit of macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia), a plant that grows in the South Pacific. Macadamia and argan are endemic species. Macadamia grows in Australia. It was discovered in the 19th century. People started using this plant for nutrition and skin care only in the 50s of the last century. Macadamia is a tree 20 meters high. With cold pressing, golden oil is obtained from the fruits. The oil has a fine structure and a rich and nutty aroma. Macadamia berries are a popular snack. Macadamia oil is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, most of which are oleic acids. This oil still contains saturated palmitic fatty acid (about 25%). Macadamia oil actually contains the most palmitoleic acid of all vegetable oils. The content of this acid in the skin decreases with age, so the oil is a valuable source of palmitic acid.

This property allows the rapid penetration of essential oils into the bloodstream, so macadamia oil is often used as a base for aromatherapy mixtures (which need rapid action, for example against pain).
  2. It is useful for mixtures that need to be quickly absorbed into the skin (against cellulite). It is extremely suitable for treating dry and mature skin. It is also used for skin treatment after sunbathing and children’s skin care.
  3. Hair treatment with macadamia oil restores lost shine and moisture. That is why this oil is an ideal spring refreshment for dry and damaged hair.
  4. It has been proven that macadamia oil prolongs the life of cosmetic hair dye, reduces color fading and contains natural UV protection.
  5. Macadamia oil is safe to use. No cases of allergy or toxic effects on humans have been reported in the literature.
