Cult American popular music singer Michael Jackson is the founder of the Heal the World Foundation. His foundation, in cooperation with the humanitarian non-profit association AmeriCares, helped the residents of besieged Sarajevo during the 3-year siege of the city. During those terrible war years, we received as much as 43 tons of food, medicine, blankets and winter clothes worth $ 2.1 million from Heal The World and AmeriCares.
Michael Jackson loved Sarajevo and then said that “Sarajevo is a symbol of a tragedy that could have been avoided”.
Michael Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009 from the effects of heart failure.
