In the stomach there is a special microflora made up of billions of bacteria. It is about hundreds of species of bacteria. Bacteria break down substances introduced into the body, break down waste materials and fight against pathogenic microorganisms (by keeping them under control or expelling them from the body in cooperation with the immune system). Because of these functions, the red flora also forms one axis of the tubes of the human immune system. If there is a disturbance in the balance of the red flora (for some reason), then the consequences could be negative for the organism.
Food for a healthy gut
Food that contains active components (such as probiotics, prebiotics and plant fibers) is an excellent assistant for the smooth functioning of the intestinal flora. Probiotics are “good” bacteria that are produced by lactic acid fermentation. They are present in dairy products (yogurt or kefir) and sauerkraut. An increased intake of probiotics is recommended especially for long-term diarrhea and vomiting (when the amount of intestinal flora is physically reduced) and for people exposed to stress (in order to prevent the growth of pathogenic microorganisms).
Prebiotics are a special type of fiber that is food for beneficial bacteria (from the intestinal flora). They promote the development and abundance of beneficial bacteria and thus the functioning of the intestines. Among them, the most famous substance is “inulin”, which is added to many foods, especially dairy products.
Food rich in plant fibers (fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals) help the intestines because during digestion the fibers “pick up” harmful substances from them, increase the content and volume, thus facilitating the work of the intestinal flora.
Yogurt and kefir stand out among foods with a positive effect on the digestive tract
Yogurt is obtained by lactic acid fermentation of bacteria from the Lactobacillus family. It contributes to better functioning of the intestines, affects the elimination of constipation, diarrhea and inflammation of the intestines. Probiotic yogurt with selected bacterial cultures is especially good. It is necessary to drink at least half a liter of yogurt a day because its bacteria are mostly destroyed in the stomach. Yogurt directly contributes to the reduction of fat tissue.
The interesting thing is that yogurt is an excellent drink for oral health
Yogurt is a great tool for eliminating bad breath. Yogurt reduces plaque and alleviates or completely eliminates gingivitis.
Kefir is produced by alcoholic fermentation of kefir grains (crystals). It is a drink with a specific and refreshing taste. It contains about 10 types of bacteria and yeast cells and is also rich in B vitamins.
Kefir complements yogurt perfectly
That is why it is recommended to alternate consumption of yogurt and kefir
Kefir is made with milk but also with water as a slightly carbonated refreshing drink.
It is recommended to drink one glass of kefir in the morning and in the evening, and on an empty stomach.
