4 tips for decorating the ceiling according to the height of the ceiling
Lighting, furniture, decor, more or less vivid fabrics, wall coloring and the like are important factors in the decoration of the house and the feeling of comfort in the house. The shape of the room (triangular, quadrangular, with or without protrusions, etc.) is important for comfort. However, the height of the ceiling also has an impact on the physiognomy of the room (because it gives or takes away air, light, makes the space spacious, too warm or cold, etc.).
- Too high ceiling in the room – rooms with high ceilings seem uncomfortable and cold. That is why the ceiling should be painted blue (the color of the sky) or in the color of tobacco and the like or according to the patterns on the walls. Avoid direct lighting of the ceiling, but direct the light towards the floor or towards the lower part of the room. The height of the room will be softened by the drapery above the window in the same color as the ceiling.
- Low ceiling in the room – the color of the walls should be different from the color of the ceiling in a room with a low ceiling. The color of the walls should be light, and the ceiling should be painted white. The curtains on the windows should be raised as high as possible so that the beginning is from the ceiling. Low furniture and pictures hung at eye level, and curtains on both sides of the window will greatly contribute to creating the impression of a larger area (than it is).
- Unequal height of the ceiling in the rooms – it is best to paint such a room in one color (that is, use the same pattern for both the walls and the ceiling). This will smooth out the unpleasant impression and certain “mottling” created by unevenly colored surfaces. At the same time, this is the only way to visually create a larger space.
- Slanted ceiling in rooms – it is best to paint the ceiling and the upper part of the room with blue (the color of the sky) or the color of tobacco to somewhat establish harmonious proportions in a room with an open ceiling. If the walls are decorated with patterns, then the ceiling should be painted in a light color. The color of the ceiling depends on the owner’s desire to make the room brighter or to soften the height of the room to some extent.
