Oregano, cumin and lemon balm are ideal for spring growing in pots
The beginning of spring is the period of awakening of nature and the time to plant precious medicinal plants in gardens, balconies, in pots. These herbs will always be at your fingertips and you will quickly be able to prepare, for example, cough medicine, a liquid that solves insomnia and nervous tension or against skin itching and skin eczema. The plants have no accompanying negative effects and do not cause addiction.
- Oregano (Latin name is Origanum vulgare) is a perennial herbaceous plant. The plant is easy to grow and only sometimes it can be demanding. It can be grown throughout the year. It is useful in cooking and for medicinal purposes. The seeds are small, so it is better to grow oregano in a nursery. The green aromatic plant tolerates transplanting easily and grows quickly. Oregano blooms in mid-summer until the end of September. Then the above-ground shoots are cut to prepare the medicinal raw material. Medicinal oregano liquid is useful because it dissolves secretions and facilitates expectoration, but it also has analgesic properties. Oregano is useful because it improves appetite and stimulates intestinal peristalsis. Tea is rich in sedative properties and prevents the development of bacteria. The tincture is effective against yeast fungi in the body.
- Cumin – (the Latin name is Cuminum cyminum) – cumin was cultivated a thousand years ago in Egypt, which is considered the country of origin of this plant. Today, the plant is found in the Mediterranean and countries of the Middle East, India and China. The plant grows best in an open sunny area with loose soil. The plant is not demanding for maintenance. The green part and seeds are used to treat the intestinal-gastric tract, to strengthen immunity, against colds and diseases of the respiratory organs, against insomnia and obesity. Medicinal liquid is useful for pregnant women who have toxicosis and nursing mothers who have little milk. The plant is used for the treatment and prevention of cancer.
- Lemongrass (the Latin name is Melissa Officinalis) is a perennial herb that is also called “lemon grass”. Today there are interesting species of various leaf colors and shapes. All these plants are excellent garden decorations and all are medicinal. The plant grows better in a sunny area, although it generally does not require special growing conditions. The grass contains a large amount of essential oils, vitamins, minerals, flavonoids, saponins, sterols, monoterpenes, beta-carotene and tannins. Lemon balm has a calming and sedative effect, helps to eliminate tachycardia attacks, against depression and insomnia, and resolves panic attacks. Medicinal liquid has anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties, removes spasms, improves metabolic processes in the body and has a beneficial effect on brain activity. External application is in the form of analgesics, against injuries, sprains and toothaches. Rub the fresh leaves with your fingers if you feel a headache. The ethereal scent of the plant can be inhaled.
