Restaurant “Skuhne” Ljubljana (Slovenia) where migrants present dishes from their countries
Refugees from all over the world have found a new life by cooking food from their homeland for other people/restaurant patrons. Namely, in 2014, a restaurant with a strong dose of activism and altruism was opened in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. This restaurant proves an entrepreneurial and social project in Ljubljana’s Old Town. There, refugees from all over the world find a new life by cooking food from their homeland for others.
The goal of the founder of the restaurant is the desire to improve the integration of people who fled to Slovenia for various reasons. Refugees thus got the possibility of permanent employment. http://www.skuhna.si
The menu of the “Skuhne” restaurant is also the main trump card. The menu is dedicated to a different country every day. This gastronomic adventure is led by an Indian head chef, and the other nine employees come from Africa, Asia and South America. The essence of the project is to use food to tell guests different life stories. Some are sad, some are happy, but always interesting to the people who listen to them.
In addition to cooking, social events are also organized here: workshops, talks, film screenings, concerts, language courses and, of course, cooking schools. The report of RTV Slovenia is brought by an international magazine “Alpe Dunav Adria” https://alpedunavjadran.hrt.hr/
