Homemade coffee made from oak acorns
- Collect acorns (which have fallen off under the oak) or buy the finished product (acorn coffee) in health food stores. Try replacing a cup of regular coffee with a cup of oak acorn coffee sometimes.
- Examine each acorn individually. Wash the fruits and put them in a pot. Cover with water and heat until boiling, then cook for another 15 to 20 minutes. This will soften the shell and make it easier to peel the fruit. In addition, tannins will be removed and the drink will be tastier.
- Drain the acorns and let them cool. Remove the skin with a knife. Discard any acorns that are not completely healthy.
- Chop the oak acorns (cleaned and shelled) and place in a pan. Bake in an oven heated to 180 degrees C (until golden brown). Stir or shake the pan occasionally. Leave the baked fruits to cool.
- Grind the baked fruits in a food processor. Then bake again in an oven heated to 180 degrees C (until they get a brown coffee color). Be near the stove at all times because oak fruits burn easily. Stir occasionally while the fruit is baking in the oven for the second time.
- Grind the cooled oak fruits again in a blender, electric coffee grinder or manual coffee grinder.
- Make coffee from oak fruit in the same way you normally make coffee.
