5 destinations and tourist recommendations for travel
1. Mostar is a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina that is best known for the masterpiece of Ottoman architecture “Stari most” on the river Neretva. The Old bridge (Stari most) was originally built in 1566 by order of Suleiman the Magnificent. The bridge was destroyed in 1993 during the war, but rebuilt in 2004 and became part of the UNESCO cultural heritage. The old bridge is world-famous for traditional jumps into the Neretva river from a height of 24 meters. On the eastern side, the old part of the city is full of indigenous shops, cafes and restaurants, art galleries, etc. A visit to the Koska Mehmed Pasha Mosque from 1617 is recommended. The mosque has an interior dominated by Islamic works of art such as calligraphy and ornaments. It is allowed to climb the minaret, which offers a unique view of that part of Mostar. Bišćević’s, Muslibegović’s and Kajtaz’s house are also objects from the Ottoman historical legacy. We recommend a visit to the Herzegovina Museum (where you can see various exhibits from the history of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina). A popular location is the heavenly promenade, i.e. the 35-kilometer-long Fortica park, from which sunsets are a special event. One hour’s drive from Mostar is the 25-meter high Kravica waterfall, often called Kravice, a large travertine waterfall on the Trebižat River and one of the most precious jewels of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located near the city of Ljubuški, i.e. about 40 km from the city of Mostar. This place is an inevitable day trip that is often combined with Medjugorje, Koćuša waterfall and several other nearby attractions. The popularity of the Kravice waterfall is still growing, so hurry to visit one of the best kept secrets of beautiful Bosnia and Herzegovina. https://www.muzejhercegovine.com/en/
2. Paris is relevant all year round. A visit to world-class museums (for example the Louvre, the Pompidou Center and others that Paris has in abundance) is recommended. Perhaps the biggest exhibition in 2024 is “Paris 1864: Inventing Impressionism” (running from March 26 to July 14), which also marks a major historical artistic milestone. https://parisjetaime.com/eng/
3. Edinburgh is also one of the new favorite tourist destinations in Scotland. You can find out more about the ancient history of Scotland at the National Museum of Scotland. A one-day trip to the Neolithic Cairnpeiple Hill or a visit to other nearby ramparts dating back thousands of years is also recommended. https://edinburgh.org/ https://www.visitscotland.com/places-to-go/edinburgh
4. Istanbul – the symbol of the city are tulips that grew wild in Central Asia and Turkey (long before they became popular in the Netherlands). Tulips have been a symbol of the Ottoman Empire since Sultan Mehmed II. 30 million tulips were planted in Istanbul (including the largest tulip carpet in the world in Sultanahmet Square in front of the Blue Mosque). There are still many gardens in Istanbul where millions of tulips are planted in the colors of the Turkish flag. https://goturkiye.com/
5. The valley of the Soča river and the 15-meter high Kozjak waterfall (Republic of Slovenia) – the waterfall is formed by the Kozjak stream that flows through a narrow gorge before sinking into a large pool. The stream rises in several branches below Krnčica (2142 meters), flows through several beds and descends down 6 waterfalls (of which only 2 are accessible to tourists). In addition to Veliko Kozjak, you can also visit the slightly lower 8-meter-high waterfall Mali Kozjak. The water is turquoise crystal clear. The waterfall is a protected asset and natural popular attraction hidden by high rocks. The waterfall is a popular destination for hikers, nature lovers and hikers. The landscape has beautiful landscapes, numerous mountain trails, diverse flora and fauna. The waterfall is unique due to the large cave behind the waterfall, which is entered by a small path. It is a special experience created by the rocks with various formations and the misty atmosphere due to the waterfall. https://www.slovenia.info/en
