10 tips to prevent colds and flu during the fall and winter months

The most common viral infection in the world is the common cold. The common cold is also the leading cause of frequent visits to doctors / pharmacists and the leading cause of sick leave and absences (from work, school, various events, classes, education, etc.). Since colds and flu are diseases of viral origin, treatment is aimed at relieving the accompanying ailments. Patients are advised to rest, use plenty of fluids, vitamin C, fresh fruits and vegetables, and medications to relieve the symptoms that accompany the flu and cold. Before using any medicine, read the instructions and consult your doctor / pharmacist. Before choosing any medication, the composition of the medication and the general health of the patient should be taken into account. Caution should be exercised in patients with chronic diseases (high blood pressure, thyroid disease, heart disease, diabetes, glaucoma, etc.). These patients should avoid drugs from the group of “sympathomimetics” – experts say. It is impossible to completely prevent the spread and presence of colds / flu. There are, however, preventative ways to reduce the risk of infection.

  1. Wash your hands often.
  2. Avoid touching the face (nose, mouth, eye area) and handling.
  3. Ventilate the rooms where people stay. Regular cleaning of the premises.
  4. Quitting smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.
  5. Regular disinfection and washing of frequently used items. Especially regular washing of toys that children often use.
  6. Use paper towels (in the kitchen and bathroom) to dry your hands after washing / disinfection.
  7. Drink plenty of fluids.
  8. Exercise regularly.
  9. Don’t skip breakfast. Breakfast should be soft and warm if possible. Make Iran as healthy as possible. Now the old folk proverb is current: An apple a day = a doctor from home out.
  10. Reduce / control stress as much as possible.
